The Invermere Soaring Centre is located in the beautiful Canadian Rockies. We consider it one of the best mountain soaring sites in the world with a wonderful mix of thermals, dynamic soaring and wave.

The best soaring season is May to September with cloud bases from typically 9000 ft. to 15000 ft. May, June, July, August, and September are the months to choose if you are heading for the records.

Important Note regarding Motion Sickness

Nausea or motion sickness associated with circling and the sensations of flight can be a problem for some people. If you are unsure of your reactions to the sensation of flight, book a short flight rather than a long flight. Take travel sickness tablets or use other anti nausea devices. Do not eat, drink fizzy drinks, or consume alcohol prior to your flight.

Charlie Pastuszka

Chief Pilot

Charlie has been flying gliders out of Invermere since he was 15 years old. He flies professionally for a major airline in Canada, however his true passions are soaring over the Rocky Mountains and instructing new and experienced glider pilots. In addition to instructing, Charlie is also the Chief Tow Pilot and can often be found flying the Tow Plane. Charlie enjoys making everyone’s experience at ISC safe, welcoming, and rewarding!

GETTING HERE

A short 3 hour drive from Calgary. Take the Trans-Canada / AB - 1 route through Banff until you reach the AB-93 S exit to Radium Hot Springs.

Take the exit and follow the 93 south until you reach Radium. Turn left onto the 95 South. Invermere is approx. 15 km south and the airport is on the right.
